American artist Georgia O’Keeffe was born on November 15, 1887 with the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Ascendant all in Scorpio. And she embodied so many Scorpio qualities. She was passionate, persistent, intense, intuitive, complex, resourceful, solitary, strong-willed, self-sufficient and spiritual.
Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, planet of death and transformation. And her paintings are full of images of animal skulls and sun-bleached bones [collected from the desert around her home in New Mexico] which provided the perfect subject matter for her powerful paintings. With Venus closely conjunct Uranus, she lived the life of a bohemian artist. And she had many ‘unconventional’ relationships [for the time] with men and woman.
The photo shown is of Ghost Ranch [her first home in New Mexico]. It’s where she spent every summer from the mid 1930’s until her death in 1986 [at the ripe old age of 99].
“To me, it is the best place in the world. It has always been secluded and solitary. When I first went there it was only one house with one room – which had a ghost living in it.” Georgia O’Keeffe
“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.” Georgia O’Keeffe
“You get whatever accomplishments you are willing to declare.” Georgia O’Keeffe
